"We had a lot of fun at last night's event. The house is pretty spectacular as I am sure many agreed... we enjoyed the Asolo in the mix-good idea. The valet parking, drinks, and food were complimentary to the host/hostess... I thought it was really interesting to have agents from all different companies with so many personalities, along with bankers (I think I saw just about every private banker I know) in the crowd."

home sweet mansion by Ricci Shryock
Opening party worth of $8.9 million price
Casa Elegante celebration features Asolo Theatre performers.
Indian Beach's newest home is a nearly $9 million bayfront estate, and the real-estate team at SKY Sotheby's International Realty gave the residence a reception that fit its selling price Aug. 18.
The three-story, 14,243-square foot structure was filled with music, refreshments, and a performance of "The Plexiglass Slipper" by the Asolo Theatre. The home's developer, Peter Laughlin, is a supporter of the theater, said SKY Sotheby's Laura Brady.
Brady, the listing agent, also tried to dispel rumblings that the party stemmed from a slow real estate market. To the contrary, Brady said, the ultra-luxury market- $3 million up- had more second quarter sales than this period last year. Brady said that according to MLS, 21 homes priced at $3 million and up sold between April and June of this year. Eighteen sold in the same time frame last year. "In the luxury market, there's more inventory, but there's also more sales," Brady said.

Sky Sotheby's Laura Brady and Stuart
Mattison joined Peter and Patricia Laughlin as hosts of a
walk-through party at the Laughlin's $9 million Casa Elegante overlooking
Sarasota Bay on Indian Beach Place recently.
The tour was on a picture-perfect evening and besides the curious, guests
included supporters of the Asolo, which received proceeds from the ticket price.
After meandering through the 14,243-square-foot casa, everyone enjoyed a musical
review of the Asolo's upcoming "The Plexiglass Slipper," given by real-life
sweethearts and Asolo actors Maclain Looper and Julie Lachance ... and Michael
Edwards' enthusiastic talk about the coming season.
